What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first visit is an opportunity for us to get to know you. The initial appointment typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes. This allows plenty of time for a detailed evaluation and a conversation about your concerns and goals. Here’s what you can expect:

A Comprehensive Evaluation

We start with a full-mouth series of X-rays, including bitewings, to assess your current oral health. This creates a useful baseline for your future dental care. If additional imaging is needed, such as cone-beam technology, we can do that too.

Digital X-Rays

Our advanced digital X-ray equipment uses less radiation, provides clearer images, and eliminates waiting time for results compared with traditional film X-rays. We also use wider view technology, requiring you only to bite a small stick between your teeth, delivering a high-quality image for evaluation purposes.

Periodontal Readings

We measure the space between the gum tissue and teeth with a special probe to assess if there are any signs of periodontal disease. This helps us understand your current gum health and determine whether scaling or root planing is needed.

Prophylaxis (Professional Teeth Cleaning)

While we aim to complete prophylaxis (cleaning) during your first visit, it will depend on the state of your teeth and gums. If you need periodontal treatment, such as scaling or root planing, your prophylaxis (professional polishing) may be rescheduled for a future appointment instead.

After your evaluation, your dentist will present their findings so you have a clear understanding of your current oral health. We take the time to have conversations with each patient about:
